| | Town of San Valentino Torio |
Between the IX and VI centuries B.C., during the Iron Age, the Sarno valley was occupied by the “Sarristi”, a population coming from Peloponnesus.
At the beginning of 421 B.C., the valley was invaded by a new population, the Samnites, until 307 B.C. when Nuceria decided to unite with the Romans to defeat the new conquerors.
In 603 B.C., following the barbaric invasions and the destruction of Nocera at the hands of the Lombards, the population fled into the Sarno valley, thereby creating new settlements; among them San Valentino.
