Nocera Superiore is a town historically linked to Nocera Inferiore, to which it was joined until 1850. The land is largely defined by mountainous and hilly terrain, as well as by an artificial boundary that separates if from Nocera Inferiore.
The town boasts a reasonable presence of industry: vegetable preserves, box-factories, manufacture of glass and plastic, mechanics, typolithographics, and furniture factories.
Craftwork is also present here, from carpentry to the manufacture of leather and iron goods. Of course, along with the rest of the Agro Nocerino Sarnese area, it is especially suitable for agriculture thanks to the presence of water and the particularly high quality of the soil.
The cultivation of certain products is very important: tomatoes, tobacco, textile fibres, cabbage, legumes, potatoes, artichokes, cherries, apricots, nuts, grapes and lotus.
This has allowed the growth of a manufacturing enterprise pole connected to the production of agriculture, with a consequent organised development of rural activities.
