| La Villa Marittima Romana
Of the I century A.C., this villa represents an unique example of the building expertise of the Romans. Built at sea level, its first floor contains, within the wings of the porch, a “viridarium”, in whose centre lies a monumental bath, opened towards the sea.
Also, the most important room of this floor: the great “triclinium nynphaeum”, from whose sides, the whole ground floor extends symmetrically. Upstairs, very few elements have survived. Remains of stuccoworks, mosaics, and frescos represent a figurative universe referable to the third Pompeian style.
