This territory is characterised by the presence of the River Sele, one of the most important rivers of the Tyrrhenian coast, and one of the most charming features of this landscape, preserved for centuries by the local communities.
The Piano del Sele is a verdant flat land, at whose boundaries expands an amazing coastline which, from Salerno to Agropoli, hosts several places of great cultural and archaeological value.
The Alto e Medio Sele is an extremely interesting region from a naturalistic perspective, owing to its environmental diversity that ranges from 100 metres above sea level to the 1800 metre summit of Polveracchio mountain.
Testimony to this are the many protected areas; primarily, the thermal springs of Contursi which are of great environmental importance and a remarkable destination for tourists who want to take care of their psycho-physical well-being.
Within the Valle del Sele there is a considerable heritage of historical-cultural beauties for the most passionate to admire: the Villa d’Ayala in Valva, the Archaeological Museum in the charming Norman castle of Oliveto Citra, and the Duomo of Santa Maria della Pace in Campagna.
Many folkloristic events still exist today, relating to the history and the promotion of local products of the whole region.
