During these years, the history of the village is almost identical to that of Amalfi.
The town has the typical structure of a medieval village, that rose around the various churches, namely the churches of Santa Maria Maddalena, San Salvatore, San Michele, del Carmine, San Rosalia and San Maria del Bando.
Among the open space in front of the Chiesa del Carmine and the face of the Civita Mountain, lie the ruins of the wall that, during the Middle Ages, surrounded the village. Whereas on the inside, rests the ancient “Porta Settentrionale” (Northern Gate) of Atrani.
